Vocational Skills Training
KW Transitions Ranch aims at offering all young men an introduction to vocational training that they will benefit from for the rest of their lives.
Whether it is welding or ranching, each young man is given personal attention to help discover their interests and gain the skills for a successful future.
Welding
Hands-on experience with many different welding methods, types, and techniques taught by mentors with valuable experience in the welding and metal fabrication field. From welding gates, fences, equipment, sheet metal, personal projects, furniture, and more, young men will be introduced to this valuable skill.
Mechanics
From the basics such as maintenance, oil changes, and flat tires, to diagnostics, rebuilding transmissions and replacing engines, young men will leave with a thorough knowledge of the field of mechanics.
Animal Work
Daily animal interaction including management, production, nutrition, breeding, proper care of sick animals and actual cattle drives are all part of life on the ranch.
Equipment Operation
From tractors, bailers, swathers, and more, young men learn how to properly operate and maintain farm equipment and other machinery.
Culinary
Overseen by a professional chef with over 18 years of experience working for a Las Vegas restaurant, young men will be introduced to everything from proper cutting techniques, choosing ingredients, cooking methods, knife skills, and more.
Building and Construction
How to use power tools, tile a floor, install a ceiling fan, build furniture, repair a washer and dryer, frame a building, install windows, build a materials list, estimate costs, and read building plans are all examples of actual skills learned in this trade.
Career Opportunities
Many young men who have been introduced to these vocational skills while on the ranch have gone on to have very successful careers in the trades. And at the very least, they have gained confidence in their ability to be self-sufficient in life.
